About

I’m Paul Coupar.

I live in Sheffield. I grew up down the road in Chesterfield.

In between, I’ve been in Cambridge studying, Hampshire editing books and London, and Sydney as a journalist.

In Sheffield , I’ve taught English and built an educational charity.

I’m currently back editing books and temping for the council. I have no room for freelance work but am interested in ongoing writing and editing jobs.

I’m also training for ordination in the Triratna Buddhist Order.

This site gives some basic details about me.

It’s built round my blog, which covers things that I like:

  • Buddhism and meditation
  • Books, especially poetry
  • Writing
  • Sport, mainly cricket and golf
  • Neurodiversity
  • Being a dad
  • Answering questions that my sons ask me
  • Rejoicing in things I love

Why ‘Beyond the Yellow Line’?

At my junior school a yellow line – the boundary of the netball court – marked the edge of the playground. I spent a long time behind that line, watching people play.

As an adult, I crossed the line. My blog is part of that.
